The Schaeffer Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K Trail Run takes place at the Button Farm Living History Center in Germantown, MD. The event utilizes the singletrack trails of Schaeffer Farms and the private grounds of Button Farm. The courses consist of a combination of twisty singletrack and running through open farm fields.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • Half Marathon: A 13.5-mile course with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain.

The event also includes a free kids race for children aged 2-11, which features short out-and-back runs grouped by age. Aid stations are situated along the routes, and portable toilets are available at the start/finish area as well as specific mile markers on the longer courses.

Registration includes a finisher medal, a race t-shirt, and post-race food such as breakfast burritos. Support services on-site include medical personnel and professional timing. Awards are presented to the top five finishers in various age categories, ranging from 12 and under to 70-79.
