The San Juan Softie is a high altitude mountain ultramarathon held near Durango, Colorado on August 14, 2026. The route starts and finishes a few miles north of Durango and is described in race materials as approximately 104 miles long with about 19,000 feet of total elevation gain. The course reaches a highest point of 12,438 feet and has an average elevation just over 10,000 feet.

The event uses a network of aid stations along the course, some designated full with hot food and others basic with limited supplies. Pacers are allowed beginning at mile 45.5 and may join runners at the Cross Mountain, Ryman Creek, and Elbert Creek aid stations; runners may have one pacer at a time and pacers must complete a waiver and wear a pacer bib. The race enforces required safety gear including a rain jacket, two light sources, gloves, whistle, hat, water carrying capacity, and a cup or bowl. Rain pants or a tracker may be required depending on conditions; failure to carry required gear can result in disqualification.

The race has a 38 hour cut off. Prize money is awarded to the top three men and women and is listed as $500, $250, and $100 respectively. The organizer notes the possibility of course reroutes in the case of wildfire and that refunds in case of cancellation may be limited by insurance.
