Run Your Outback Trail Festival
The Run Your Outback Trail Festival is a three‑day trail running event in the Outback Northern Territory held on Country of the Kungarakan and Warai peoples. The festival combines multiple trail races, a campsite and a festival area with food, music and communal campfires.
Distances offered include:
- 1 km kids trail
- 7 km nocturnal and daytime trails
- 18 km trail
- 28 km trail
- 56 km trail
Two multi-event challenges are available. The KANGA combines the Friday 7 km, a Saturday 7 km and the Sunday 28 km for a total of 42 km. The DINGO combines the Friday 7 km, a Saturday 18 km and the Sunday 56 km for a total of 81 km. Winners across the combined events are recognised as the KANGA Champ and Top DINGO.
Entry fees, age minimums and mandatory gear vary by event. A collapsible cup, flask or drink bottle is mandatory for all events. A head torch is mandatory for the nocturnal 7 km, and recommended gear includes trail shoes, personal nutrition, a snake bandage, emergency blanket and a whistle. Courses are being finalised and maps with GPX files will be provided.
The festival offers camping with basic, no‑amenity sites and a small fee per site for one or two nights. Every finisher receives a medal; prizes are awarded to top finishers in each event.
