Trail Running in Tarra-Bulga National Park

Run Tarra-Bulga takes place in the South Gippsland region, approximately two hours east of Melbourne. The event is centered within the Tarra-Bulga National Park on Brataualung Country, starting from the Visitor Centre in Balook. The course traverses cool temperate rainforests characterized by giant Mountain Ash trees, fern gullies, and ancient myrtle beeches. A notable feature of the route is Corrigan’s Suspension Bridge, which crosses through the rainforest canopy.

Participants can choose from four different distances:

  • 42.3 km with 1530 meters of elevation
  • 25.4 km with 950 meters of elevation
  • 6.8 km with 315 meters of elevation
  • 2.5 km with 120 meters of elevation

The 42.3 km event includes four aid stations and five water points, while the 25.4 km event provides two aid stations and three water points. The shorter courses, 6.8 km and 2.5 km, have no aid stations on the course but provide a water point at the finish line. All participants who complete their respective distances receive a finisher medal. Cut-off times apply to all events, ranging from 1.5 hours for the shortest distance to 9 hours for the full marathon distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
