About the race
Ripon Round Ultra and Relay is a 35 mile circular route based in Studley Roger, North Yorkshire. The event offers both individual solo entries and relay team entries and follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel through trail, woodland and moorland in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, finishing with a downhill run through Studley Royal deer park back into Studley Roger.
Race headquarters are at Studley Roger Village Hall, where refreshments, hot food and toilet facilities will be available. The route includes four well stocked checkpoints offering water, savouries, sweets and cake, with additional water stations depending on the weather. Toilet facilities are available at CP3 (approximately 19 miles). Paper cups will not be provided.
Entries are open from 3 February 2026 until 13 September 2026. Minimum ages are 20 years for solo participants and 17 years for relay participants. The event is held under UKA rules and operates a time limit of 10 hours, with cut-off times at checkpoints.
Mandatory equipment listed for the event includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, emergency food, a minimum of 500 ml water, a foil blanket, and a route map or route description, plus a fully charged mobile phone. A T-shirt is provided to full course finishers and to relay team members. Prizes and trophies are awarded to top finishers and to qualifying teams.
