Ripon Round Ultra and Relay
The Ripon Round Ultra and Relay is a 35-mile circular endurance event organized by Ripon Runners. The route begins and ends at Studley Roger Village Hall in North Yorkshire. Participants travel through a varied landscape that includes trails, woodland, and moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The course follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel, featuring undulating terrain and concluding with a downhill section through Studley Royal deer park. The event is held under UKA rules and offers two main participation options:
- 35-mile Solo Ultra (Minimum age 20)
- 35-mile Relay Team (Minimum age 17)
Race headquarters are located at the village hall, providing toilet facilities and refreshments. Along the route, four checkpoints provide water along with savouries, sweets, and cake. Additional water stations may be available depending on weather conditions. Participants must adhere to a 10-hour time limit, and cut-off times are enforced at specific checkpoints.
Mandatory equipment is required for all runners, including a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, emergency food, a minimum of 500ml of water, a foil blanket, and a route map or description. Runners are also required to carry a mobile phone and utilize their own cups at water stations, as paper cups are not provided. Finishers receive a T-shirt, and trophies are awarded to top individual performers and the fastest relay team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
