Course and Terrain

The Ripon Round Ultra and Relay is a 35-mile circular route. It starts and finishes in Studley Roger, a village in North Yorkshire. The course follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel. The route is undulating and takes in varied terrain, including trail, woodland, and moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The finish includes a downhill run through Studley Royal deer park.

Logistics and Facilities

The race headquarters is Studley Roger Village Hall, which will have refreshments, hot food, and toilet facilities. The route features four stocked checkpoints with water, savories, sweets, and cake. There is also a toilet facility at the third checkpoint. All full-course finishers receive a T-shirt.

Participation

The event has two formats: a solo ultra and a team relay. The minimum age for solo participants is 20 years. The minimum age for relay participants is 17 years. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female runners, age category winners, and the fastest relay team. A team trophy is presented to the club team of five runners (with at least one female) with the lowest cumulative time.

Mandatory Equipment

Participants must carry mandatory equipment. This includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a hat, gloves, emergency food, a minimum of 500ml of water, a foil blanket, and a route map or description.
