Ripon Round Ultra and Relay

The Ripon Round Ultra and Relay is a 35-mile circular endurance event that begins and ends in the village of Studley Roger, North Yorkshire. The course follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel, traversing a variety of landscapes including woodland, trail, and moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The final segment of the route features a downhill section through Studley Royal deer park.

The event offers two main participation options:

  • 35 miles solo ultra-marathon
  • 35 miles relay team event

The race is conducted under UKA rules. For solo participants, the minimum age is 20 years, while relay participants must be at least 17 years old. The course features four stocked checkpoints providing water, savouries, sweets, and cake. Additional water stations may be available depending on weather conditions. Toilet facilities are located at the race headquarters and at the third checkpoint, approximately 19 miles into the route.

Participants must carry mandatory equipment, including a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, emergency food, a minimum of 500ml of water, a foil blanket, and a route map or description. A fully charged mobile phone is also required. All individual finishers and relay team members receive a T-shirt. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female solo runners, age category winners, and the fastest relay team.
