Roots, Ridges & Regrets is a Backyard Ultra held on private trails in the Driftwood community just outside Smithers, British Columbia. Runners complete a 6 km loop each hour and must return to the start before the next hour begins. The race continues until one runner has completed one more loop than every other participant.
The event is the second annual edition and takes place on September 12, 2026. It is hosted by the Smithers Run Club and capped at 80 runners. The course runs on forest trails across private property. First aid is available on site throughout the event. Music and an MC are present overnight.
Entry includes a participant race kit and sponsor donated swag. Trophies are awarded to the winner and the final assist. One designated yard each day is a family yard where children may run with a guardian. Volunteers support the event in roles such as course marshalling, aid station support, and start/finish crew; volunteers receive event swag and food and drink access.
The inaugural 2025 race recorded 46 finishers and a top performance of 20 yards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
