Rocky 50 Trail Race
Rocky 50 is a multi-distance trail race held at Huntsville State Park on February 13, 2027. The event uses looped courses around Lake Raven and the park trail system and lists several distances:
- 50 mile, three 16.7 mile loops
- 50K, one 14.6 mile lap plus one 16.7 mile lap
- 13.1 mile, one modified 13.1 mile lap
- Youth 1 mile
The route runs along the lake edge and through pine forest with many exposed tree roots, rolling terrain, bridges, and wildlife. A typical full lap has roughly 1,250 feet of elevation gain and equal loss. Course markings include caution tape, yellow arrows, confidence markers, and reflective markers for dark hours to assist navigation. The race provides full aid station support; the half marathon has a basic bridge aid station that primarily offers water. The event is cupless: participants must bring a personal cup or bottle; collapsible cups are available at packet pickup if needed.
Drop bag service is provided for certain aid stations and there are designated drop zones at Raven Lodge near the start and finish. Drop bags placed for race transport follow specific delivery and return procedures and must be labeled.
