Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run
Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run is the fourth event in the Outer Limits Trail Run Series, held in Bowen at Case Park on Horseshoe Bay Road. The event uses trails through the Cape Edgecumbe Heights Recreation Reserve and coastal headlands around Edgecumbe Bay.
Three marked and marshalled courses follow rocky single track, stair sections and stretches of soft sand. Runners pass lookouts such as Mother Beddock, Murray Bay and the WWII lookout, and longer routes include headland coasteering and views toward Flagstaff Hill and a nearby lighthouse. The courses are clearly marked with pink tape, signage and marshals at junctions.
Distances
- 6 km course through Edgecumbe Reserve, Mother Beddock and Horseshoe Bay foreshore
- 10 km course adds extra loops and a coasteering section along headlands
- 18 km course extends to Flagstaff Hill with additional beach and headland sections
Entry includes a fully marked course, marshals, first aid support, on course hydration and snacks, professional timing with an electronic bib plate, and on course photography. Minimum ages are 8 years for short distances and 11 years for longer distances. Mandatory gear for the 10 km and 18 km runs includes two compression bandages, a waterproofed charged phone, a whistle and a space blanket.
