The 50K route includes over 8,000 feet of cumulative climbing and visits multiple summits, including Horsepasture Mountain, Macduff Mountain, and Kings Castle, with long stretches through old growth forest and volcanic terrain. Course logistics for the 50K include a shuttle from the community center to Olallie North trailhead (shuttle rides take about 15 to 18 minutes and two shuttles run). Aid stations are located at several points along the 50K course; cutoffs apply at mile 17.3 (2:00 PM), mile 22.3 (3:30 PM) and a final cutoff near mile 32.4 (6:00 PM). Specific aid locations include Horsepasture Mountain trailhead, O’Leary/Castle Rock trailhead, East Fork trailhead, and a roadside aid at Rd 480/Kings Castle. Some aid stations offer substantial food such as quesadillas and potatoes; the finish includes pulled pork sandwiches, soup, beer, and other items at the community center.
50K runners may use one drop bag; bags are staged at the community center and delivered to O’Leary/Castle Rock aid station. Packet pickup is the week before and there is race day pickup at the community center. Runner apparel is available as an add-on through a partnered vendor.
