Event details

The Rainbow Beach Trail Festival takes place on 8 August 2026 at Phil Rogers Park, Rainbow Beach, Queensland. The event uses trails on the Cooloola Coast and passes the coloured sand cliffs, beaches, lush forests, perched lakes, sand dunes and a historic lighthouse. Entry is online only; there are no entries on the day. All finishers receive an event memento. Refunds are available until 25 July 2026 and are subject to a $30 administrative charge. Transfers to another person or event are not permitted.

Course and logistics

The course surface includes single track, fire roads and beach. The route is marked with reflective orange and silver flagging tape (approx. every 250 m), red directional arrows at intersections and red crosses marking non-course routes. Checkpoints 1, 3 and 5 provide water, electrolyte and small snacks but no cups; checkpoints 2 and 4 carry minimal water only. The event operates a no-cup policy and does not provide drop bags. Support crews are not allowed on the course; they may attend the Start/Finish area only. The organiser recommends downloading the course GPX or KML files and carrying a mobile phone, a visible race bib, a compression bandage and adequate hydration (minimum 1.5 L for marathon; minimum 500 mL for half marathon and 11 km).
