Rainbow Beach Trail Festival

The Rainbow Beach Trail Festival is a trail-running event held at Phil Rogers Park in Rainbow Beach on 8 August 2026. The routes pass coloured sand cliffs of the Cooloola Coast, coastal forest, perched lakes, rising sand dunes and the historic lighthouse. Courses use single track, fire roads and beaches.

The event offers three distances and provides course maps and downloadable GPX/KML files for each race. The course will be marked with reflective orange flagging tape, red on white directional arrows at intersections, and red crosses to indicate incorrect paths. Organisers note the course may change because of bush fires, flooding or harvesting; participants should follow on-course signage on race day.

Aid stations are positioned along the course. Checkpoints 1, 3 and 5 supply water, electrolyte and small snacks but do not provide disposable cups. Checkpoints 2 and 4 provide minimal water. There are no drop bags and support crews are permitted only in the start and finish area.

Mandatory gear requirements include a mobile phone with emergency contacts, the race bib worn on the front, a compression bandage and a water carrying system with minimum capacities specified for each distance. Recommended items include sunscreen, insect repellent, bite and sting treatment, a wet weather jacket and maps. All finishers receive an event memento. Refunds are available until 25 July 2026 subject to a $30 administration fee and transfers to other people or events are not permitted.
