Rainbow Beach Trail Festival

Event Overview

The Rainbow Beach Trail Festival takes place on August 8, 2026, in Rainbow Beach. The event is based at Phil Rogers Park.

Distances and Entry

There are three trail running events:

• 11 km, with a minimum age of 12 years.
• Half Marathon, with a minimum age of 15 years.
• Marathon, with a minimum age of 18 years.

Participants under 18 require a parent or guardian to be present. All finishers receive an event memento. There are no entries permitted on the day of the event.

Course and Checkpoints

The courses take runners through the Cooloola Coast, featuring sand cliffs, forests, perched lakes, sand dunes, and a historic lighthouse. The terrain includes single track, fire roads, and beaches. The course is marked with reflective orange flagging tape and directional red arrows. Runners should follow these markings.

Checkpoints 1, 3, and 5 provide water, electrolyte drink, lollies, fruit, and small snacks, but no cups. Checkpoints 2 and 4 have minimal water only. The event has a "no cup" initiative, meaning runners must carry their own reusable vessel. There are no drop bags.

Mandatory Gear

All participants must carry a mobile phone with emergency contact numbers programmed in and a race bib worn prominently on the front. Marathon runners must carry a hydration system with a minimum 1.5-litre capacity, while half marathon and 11 km runners need a minimum 500 ml capacity. A compression bandage is also mandatory.

Refunds and Transfers

Refunds are available until July 25, 2026, subject to a $30 administration charge. Transfers to another person or to another event are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
