Rail Trail Run and Ride
The Rail Trail Run and Ride takes place on the North-East Rail Trail between Scottsdale and the Billycock in Tasmania. Established in 2018, the event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Scottsdale in partnership with the Launceston Running Club. It features both running and riding events and raises funds to support the development and ongoing maintenance of the trail.
Events are held across a weekend in September 2026, with a festival opening on Friday 18 September, running events on Saturday 19 September, and riding events on Sunday 20 September. Distances offered include multiple options from short to long courses:
- 54 km
- 30 km
- 27 km
- 18 km
- 14 km
- 7 km
- 2 km
Entry includes access to hydration and aid stations, an emergency response team on course, traffic management at the three Tasman Highway (A3) crossings, a personalised entry bib if entered by 15 August, and a finisher medal. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third place in individual events; team prizes are given to the two teams with the lowest combined times and there are additional spot prizes. The event operates as a not for profit and any proceeds support trail maintenance and improvement. Please note that on the day entries will not be accepted in 2026. 2025 registration fees are listed as a guide and 2026 fees will be published later.
