Trail South Cascades Team Race

The Trail South Cascades is a team relay event held at the Willamette Pass Resort in Crescent Lake, Oregon. The course utilizes a mix of smooth singletrack paths, forested cross-country ski trails, and rugged mountain climbs. Participants run near the Pacific Crest Trail, passing through areas with wildflower-dotted ridgelines and views of volcanic peaks such as Diamond Peak. The route also features turquoise alpine lakes, including the Rosary Lakes and Odell Lake.

The event offers three distinct team formats:

  • Standard Team: 8 runners completing the course over 2 days and 1 night.
  • Ultra Team: 4 runners completing the course over 2 days and 1 night.
  • Sprint Team: 3 runners completing the course in 1 day.

The total distance for the full relay is 117.8 miles, which averages to 14.7 miles per runner for standard teams. The course features a total elevation gain of 26,240 feet, or approximately 3,280 feet per runner.

Ragnar Village serves as the central hub at the Willamette Pass Ski Area. The village provides amenities such as an indoor restaurant and bar, local food vendors, and indoor bathrooms. Participants can stay in the village, which offers bonfires, music, and yoga sessions. On-site lodging options include self-provided camping or a "Rent-A-Tent" service. The resort also features a disc golf course and scenic gondola rides.

Weather conditions in late June typically include daytime temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with nighttime temperatures dropping into the 50s. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
