Race to the King 2027

Race to the King is a trail ultramarathon based at West Dean Gardens on 19th June 2027. The course uses sections of the South Downs Way, Monarchs Way and coastal paths around Chichester Harbour, passing locations such as Bosham and Arundel Castle.

Distances offered include:

  • 30 km Monarchs Loop along the South Downs Way and Monarchs Way
  • 50 km Coastal 50k via Chichester Harbour and Bosham
  • 50 km Castle 50k following the South Downs Way past Arundel Castle
  • 80 km non stop combining the Coastal 50k and the 30 km loop
  • 100 km non stop full circuit of both 50 km loops

The event provides route signposting, individual chip timing and route support. Pit stops offer a range of food and drink, sports nutrition options and hot food at key points. Safety measures include independent route risk assessments, qualified medical personnel at pit-stops, rapid response paramedic teams and a centralised event control system. Logistics cover bag transfer to finish lines and bookable shuttles and parking subject to availability.
