Race to the King 2027

Race to the King is a trail ultramarathon taking in the South coast, the South Downs Way and the Monarch's Way, held on 19th June 2027 at West Dean Gardens. The event offers looped and non-stop formats that combine coastal and downland terrain over a range of distances.

Available distances include:

  • 30km Monarch's Loop via Bignor Hill and Monarch's Way
  • 50km Coastal 50k around Chichester Harbour and Bosham
  • 50km Castle 50k along the South Downs Way passing Arundel Castle
  • 80km Non-stop combining the Coastal 50k and the 30k loop
  • 100km Non-stop full circuit of the Coastal and Castle routes

The event notes a cut-off of 25+ hours. Entry prices start from £30 per person and payment plans are available across packages. Charity entry options are offered with reduced fees starting at £35 and include fundraising support from partner charities.

Support provisions listed for participants include fully signposted trails, route checking, individual chip timing, pit stops with a range of food and drink, qualified medical staff and rapid response paramedic teams, bag transfer to finish lines, and bookable shuttles and parking. Finish area facilities include a finisher's medal, photographer, spectator zones with concessions, merchandise and onward shuttle options. Community event at Worthing Rugby Football Club with a mixed-terrain five mile route and a shorter junior loop around the club pitches.

A 103 mile trail run along the North Downs Way from Farnham to Ashford, featuring 11,000 ft of ascent, 12 aid stations and a 30 hour finish cut off.

Mudgy trail race in Bordon on mixed woodland and sandy terrain with 5 km single lap or 10 km two laps and a 75 minute first lap cutoff.

Four hour team relay at Minley Manor, Hampshire where teams of four run repeated 4 km off road laps through woods and grassland. Male, female and mixed categories have prizes for the top three teams in each.
