Event Overview
Race to the King is an ultramarathon event held on June 20, 2026. The event takes place at West Dean Gardens and follows trails on the South coast, the South Downs Way, and the Monarch's Way within the South Downs National Park.
Available Distances
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 30km Monarch's Loop: A route along the South Downs Way towards Bignor Hill, returning via the Monarch's Way.
- 50km Coastal: A flat, runnable route offering views around Chichester Harbour, passing through Bosham.
- 50km Castle: An undulating route along the South Downs Way, passing by Arundel Castle.
- 80km Non-Stop: Combines the full Coastal 50km route with the 30km Monarch's Loop.
- 100km Non-Stop: The full circuit, combining both the Coastal and Castle 50km loops.
Event Features
The event has a cut-off time of over 25 hours. It includes fully signposted trails, individual chip timing, and event photographers. Pit stops provide food including cereal bars, chocolate, fresh fruit, sandwiches, tea, and coffee. A hot meal is available at the finish. Bag transfer is provided for all participants. Shuttle transport and parking are available for an additional cost.
