Race to the King 2027
Race to the King is a trail ultramarathon on 19th June 2027 at West Dean Gardens. The course uses sections of the South Downs Way, Monarch’s Way and coastal paths, with sweeping chalk downs and coastal views around Chichester Harbour.
Distances on offer include:
- 30 km Monarch’s Loop via South Downs Way to Bignor Hill and back
- 50 km Coastal 50k around Chichester Harbour, passing Bosham
- 50 km Castle 50k undulating past Arundel Castle and returning via Monarch’s Way
- 80 km nonstop combining the Coastal 50k and the 30 km loop
- 100 km nonstop full circuit of the Coastal and Castle loops
The event lists a cut-off of 25+ hours. Standard and tiered pricing applies by distance and booking window; charity-funded entries can reduce fees from £35 per person. The organiser provides pre-event support including training plans from Runna, regular webinars and participant forums.
On course provisions include full signposting, individual chip timing, route checking, pit stops stocked with hot and cold food and sports nutrition, qualified medical personnel and rapid response teams. Logistics options include bag transfer, bookable shuttles and parking subject to availability. The finish area offers a finisher’s medal, live MC, photographer, spectator zones and merchandise. Booking options include refunds for event cancellation, deferral and participant transfer, with enhanced insurance available as an optional extra.
