Event Details

The Race the Helix-Upstate takes place on Saturday, March 7, 2026. This is the 12th annual edition of the event. All proceeds benefit the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation, supporting genetics services, testing, and research for families impacted by genetic disorders.

Location and Activities

The live event is held at Lake Conestee Nature Park in Greenville, South Carolina. Two main activities are offered on-site:

  • A 5K trail run with chip timing. The course can accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.
  • A 1 mile paved course for walkers, runners, strollers, and wheelchairs.

Awards are given to the top male and female finishers overall and within several age groups, ranging from 12 and under to 70 and older.

Virtual Events and Registration

Virtual versions of both the 5K and 1 mile events are also available, allowing participants to run or walk from any location. On-site registration for the live event is available via personal devices until the start of the event.

Provisions and Additional Info

Pre-packaged snacks, water, and coffee will be provided at the live event. A long-sleeve t-shirt can be purchased for an additional fee; registration before February 14, 2026, is required to guarantee shirt size. Trail runs nearby

Experience an adventurous trail race in the heart of Paris Mountain State Park. Run the 12K course and take on the long climb to the top of the mountain for a unique running experience in Greenville.

A competitive 1 mile Memorial Day race in Greenville at The Kroc Center that honors fallen service members and first responders. The third annual Honor Tower Mile welcomes participants of all paces.

High Noon Showdown in Laurens SC is a timed trail event offering 3 hour 6 hour 12 hour and 24 hour options plus a 6 hour ruck. The roughly 5 mile loop course supports Project Hope Foundation.

An 8 mile trail event at Lakewood Nature Preserve combining four 2 mile laps into solo or relay formats with a BYOB beer challenge before each lap. Post-race activities include giveaways, a hot dog bar and Beer Olympics.
