Race the Helix-Upstate
Race the Helix-Upstate is a community running and walking event held at Lake Conestee Nature Park in Greenville, SC. Live and virtual options are offered, and all proceeds benefit the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation to support genetics services, testing, and research for families affected by genetic disorders.
Distances and formats include:
- 5K trail run with chip timing
- 1 mile paved walk for walkers and runners
The live 5K course can accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. The 1 mile course is paved and also accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. Event-day amenities include pre-packaged snacks, water, and coffee. T-shirts are not included with race entry; long sleeve shirts are available for purchase for an additional $15. Participants in virtual events who purchase a shirt will pick it up at a Greenwood Genetic Center location.
Awards are given to the top male and female finishers overall and to top male and female finishers in each age group. Age categories are: 12 and under, 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and older. The event proceeds regardless of typical weather conditions unless severe weather makes the course unsafe. Registrations are final and onsite registration is possible via a personal device.
