Race for DFL

Winchendon, United States • 8 Nov 2025

Event overview

Race for DFL is a backyard ultra-style event held at Kenty’s Farm in Winchendon, MA. The primary format follows a "last runner standing" rule: competitors run repeated laps of a fixed course and must complete each lap to continue until only one runner remains. The event is a Bronze Ticket Backyard Ultra, and the winner qualifies for a Silver Ticket Backyard Ultra. The organizer provides a limited number of pompom hats to early entrants.

Formats, distances and course

The event offers multiple ways to participate, including continuous timed options and single-lap attempts. Timed options allow running continuously for a specified duration; partial-lap additions are signed for extra miles if time allows. Timed runners may have pacers after ten hours. Some laps during the day have themes such as female, pride, costume, and glow-in-the-dark hours.

  • 4.1666 miles - lap length used in the backyard ultra format
  • 6-hour - timed continuous option
  • 12-hour - timed continuous option
  • 24-hour - timed continuous option

The course mixes surfaces and terrain. Each lap begins and ends on a grassy field and includes about 0.3 mile of field, 1.2 miles of trail, 2.3 miles of crushed gravel bike path, and 0.4 mile of dirt/gravel road. Each lap gains approximately 150 feet of elevation. Aid station supplies will be a varied assortment carried over from other events, and participants may set up small crew areas near the start/finish.
