UltraTrax Wachusett Mountain
UltraTrax Wachusett Mountain is a single day endurance walking event on Wachusett Mountain in Massachusetts held on August 28, 2027. Participants choose how far to go by repeating a roughly 7 mile loop up to four times to reach longer distances. The event gives a 10 hour window to complete chosen distances for official recognition.
The route uses wooded single track and old access roads, climbs through pine and hardwood forest, traverses ski slopes, and finishes on exposed upper mountain terrain. Terrain includes steady climbs, rocky pitches, and winding forest trails. Course markings, arrows, bright tape, and volunteers support route finding, and the event is professionally timed.
Distances available
- 7 miles single loop
- 14 miles two loops
- 21 miles three loops
- 28 miles four loops
Walkers may go unweighted or add weight with a vest or ruck in 10, 20, or 35 pound increments. Aid stations are located about every 2.5 to 3 miles and provide water, electrolytes, snacks, and toilets. Finishing participants receive a commemorative patch, a venue specific T shirt, and medal recognition: Trail Wolf medals for shorter distances and Grey Wolf for completing the longer options. A portion of registration fees supports land conservation, with an annual minimum commitment of $10,000. The format emphasizes walking and hiking rather than racing and advises caution on narrow single track when passing other participants.
