Preseli Beast

The Preseli Beast comprises a series of three off-road fell races set in the Preseli hills, North Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Routes share the same start and finish and include the Preselis' highest point, Foel Cwmcerwyn. Course terrain includes trail, fell, wooded paths, boggy sections and steep climbs. The 24-mile race includes water and feed stations at roughly five-mile intervals.

Distances:

  • Beast Bach: 10.8 miles, 1,700 ft ascent
  • Preseli Beast: approx 24 miles, 4,600 ft ascent
  • UltraBeasT: new course under construction

The Beast Bach is fully marked and has one water/aid station at about five miles. The Preseli Beast route passes through the steep-sided wooded Gwaun valley, offers views from Carn Ingli over Newport Bay, and includes a feature referred to as the Beast's Lair.

Prizes are awarded by category with at least a prize for the winner in each listed class, including male/open and female age groups 18-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

WFRA safety requirements apply. Competitors must have the skills and experience to complete the chosen race and comply with the Race Organiser's instructions. Mandatory kit for the Preseli Beast and UltraBeasT includes full waterproof top and bottoms, a map covering the route, compass, whistle, water container, gloves, and a hat or buff. Carn Ingli Killer is a 5.54 km fell race with 315 m climb on a partially marked course requiring navigational skills and experience; registration is opposite Long Street car park and entry is £3 on the night.

A new 2026 trail event that starts at Freshwater East, runs along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and finishes in Saundersfoot, offering 25 km and 14 km options with GPX course files and a payment plan.

An approximately 8 km fell race in North Pembrokeshire with about 320 m of climb and a partially marked course. Junior races run in several age categories and entry fees are modest.

A 11.3 km fell race with 350 m ascent near Mynachlog-ddu and Rosebush. The partially marked course requires navigational skills and experience. Entry is £5 pre-entry or £7 on the day and includes tea and cake.
