Event Overview

The Pinnacles Classic is an 18km trail race run in the Brisbane Forest Park (d’Aguillar National Park) around Gold Creek Reservoir. In 2026, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Trail Running Association of Queensland (TRAQ) and the event, a Double Pinnacles option of 36km will also be offered.

Race Details

For the 2026 edition, the Pinnacles Classic will be run clockwise. The Double Pinnacles race will start first, running anti-clockwise for its first loop before joining the clockwise direction of the Classic. The total elevation gain is 750m for the 18km race and approximately 1500m for the 36km race. The course features 18 significant hills per loop. There is a mandatory cutoff time of 11:30 AM, allowing 4.5 hours for the Classic and 6 hours for the Double.

Registration and Logistics

The event is limited to 200 participants. Entry fees are $85 for the Classic and $125 for the Double, with a 10% discount for TRAQ members. Refunds are available up to two weeks before the event, minus a $20 administrative charge. There is no parking available at Gold Creek Reservoir. A shuttle bus service from the Brookfield Recreation Reserve will transport participants.

On the Course

All runners must carry at least 1 litre of fluids. There is one checkpoint halfway along the course providing water, cola, electrolytes, and lollies. Post-race refreshments include bakery goods, fruit, soft drinks, electrolytes, and water. Coffee and smoothies will be available for purchase.
