Pilliga Ultra : For Wild Places
The Pilliga Ultra is a multi-day trail running event held in the Pilliga Forest from 18 to 20 September 2026. It combines running with community activities and aims to raise awareness of the forest’s cultural and environmental value. The forest is home to diverse native animals and plants and is significant to the Gomeroi/Gamilaraay people.

The program includes guided walks, workshops, a gasfield tour, Welcome to Country, live music and communal dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. The event site is at Pilliga Pottery / Barkala Farm, with on-site camping, bunk and self-contained options and nearby accommodation in Coonabarabran and Narrabri. Organisers donate part of each entry fee to an FWP-managed Pilliga Fund to support local initiatives. Event profits are shared between For Wild Places and the Pilliga Fund.
