Peacock Gap Trail Run
The Peacock Gap Trail Run takes place at China Camp State Park in San Rafael, CA. The event offers three trail distances on an extensive network of single-track trails and fire roads with coastal views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay. The courses move through thicker forest sections and open trails toward the San Pablo Bay side, with a sustained climb beginning about 1.5 miles into the route.
Distances:
- 30K (19.5 miles, 2,735' elevation gain)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles, 1,800' elevation gain)
- 10K (6.3 miles, 1,140' elevation gain)
Most of the terrain is moderately technical dirt trail and non-technical fire road. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon roughly every 200 meters, with heavy marking at turns; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails. Hiking poles are permitted.
Aid stations provide a variety of food and beverages such as energy gels, sandwiches, salty snacks, soda, water, and Skratch hydration, and are stocked with basic first aid items. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event so runners must carry their own cup or soft flask; reusable cups and 500 ml soft flasks are available for purchase at the event. Drop bag service is not available.
The event is chip timed using disposable chips attached to the back of each bib. Capacity across all distances is 275 runners. Parking at Miwok Meadows is free and requires a short walk up a dirt access road to the start/finish area. Dogs are allowed at the start/finish area but not on park trails.
