Peacock Gap Trail Run

The Peacock Gap Trail Run takes place at China Camp State Park in San Rafael, California on December 5, 2026. The event offers multiple trail distances with measured mileage and elevation profiles.

• 30K : 19.5 miles, 2,735 ft elevation gain
• Half Marathon : 13.1 miles, 1,800 ft elevation gain
• 10K : 6.3 miles, 1,140 ft elevation gain

Courses run on a mix of moderately technical dirt single-track and non-technical fire roads. Runners encounter twisting trails that climb over a peak and then descend toward the San Pablo Bay side of the park. The route provides views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay. A climb begins about 1.5 miles into the courses.

Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon approximately every 200 meters, with heavier marking at turns, laminated signs, and flour arrows where allowed. Blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails; longer-distance runners may need to follow more than one ribbon color. Hiking poles are permitted.

Aid stations provide a variety of foods and drinks including gels, chews, pretzels, PB&J sandwiches, boiled potatoes with salt, soda, water, and Skratch Hydration. Stations carry general first aid items but not anti-inflammatory medicine. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own reusable cup or bottle. Drop bag service is not available.

All races use professional chip timing with disposable chips attached to bibs. The 30K and half marathon have a six hour time limit. Event capacity is 275 runners. Parking is free; park along N. San Pedro Road at the Miwok Meadows entrance and walk the dirt access road to the start/finish at Miwok Meadows, China Camp State Park. Race shirts are a District Perfect-Tri tri-blend fabric with UPF 30 and moisture-wicking features. Awards include overall trophies, finishers medals, and age-group medals.
