Peace Ridge Sanctuary’s 5k Run for the Animals & 1 Mile Fun Walk

The Peace Ridge Sanctuary’s 5k Run for the Animals & 1 Mile Fun Walk takes place at the Northeast Equine Sanctuary, situated on the border of Albion and Freedom, Maine. This trail based event is held on a landscape of fields and forests, featuring natural scenery and autumn foliage. The course winds alongside animal enclosures, allowing participants to observe horses and ponies in a peaceful environment.

The event offers two main distances:

• 5 km trail run (3.1 miles)
• 1 mile trail walk

The activities are held on World Animal Day to support animal welfare and the care of rescued animals. In addition to the trail run and walk, the event includes several outdoor activities. Participants can take part in a yoga and meditation session for runners before the start, while a separate animal yoga session for children is held later in the day.

On-site amenities include a vegan BBQ and sponsor tables providing various items. Other features of the day include corn-hole, scavenger hunts, face painting, and a raffle. Prizes for top finishers and fundraisers are vegan friendly. Please note that companion animals, such as dogs, are not permitted at the venue. There is no overnight parking or camping available on the premises, though several hotels are located within 17 to 26 miles of the sanctuary in nearby Waterville and Belfast.
