Trail Endurance Format

OUTLAST Indianapolis is a 6-hour endurance challenge held at CERA Sports Park-Campground in Columbus, Indiana. The event follows a specific format where participants must complete a 5 km lap every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the 60-minute window for the runner to remain in the event. Participants who complete a lap early may use the remaining time to rest before the next round begins. If a participant fails to finish a lap within the hour, they are disqualified from the following rounds.

The course features trail-based terrain, including natural elements such as dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes. Some sections may include pavement or gravel. As a cupless event, participants are required to bring their own bottles or hydration systems. Basic hydration, water, and snacks are provided at the start of each loop. Participants are also permitted to set up their own personal aid stations or tents at the site.

Recognition and Awards

All participants receive an event t-shirt. Rewards are based on the number of completed laps:

  • 4 laps completed: Grit Earned patch
  • 5 laps completed: Survivor patch
  • 6 laps completed: Premium OUTLAST medal

Those who complete all six rounds are ranked on a national leaderboard. The male and female runners with the fastest combined times for all six 5 km laps are recognized as local winners and earn a qualifying spot for a national championship event. Professional results are tracked to crown a national champion based on performances across the event series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
