Ouachita Switchbacks

The Ouachita Switchbacks is a trail running event at Pashubee Trailhead near Big Cedar, Oklahoma. Distances offered:

  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 10 Miler

Registration closes Thu, Jan 15.

Course and logistics

The course runs in the Ouachita Mountains and is described as extremely technical with considerable elevation change. The start and finish are in a remote location with no facilities. The 10-mile race is an out-and-back that goes to a rock glacier formation before turning around.

Event provisions mentioned include hoodies, finishers mugs, finisher hats for the 50K, bumper stickers, handcrafted race awards, and a post-race party. The inclement weather policy states the race will be postponed to the following Saturday only if road conditions make travel to the race site dangerous; there are no refunds if this happens. The 2019 race experienced a blizzard at the beginning, but the 25K was still held. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
