OPSF 50/50 Trail Race - Owen-Putnam State Forest, Poland, IN
OPSF 50|50 is a trail running event organized by the Indiana Trail Running Association in Owen-Putnam State Forest near Poland, Indiana. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 14 mile
- 10K Trail Race
The course starts at Horse Campground and uses a 14-mile loop that is about 90% single track and horse trails with some fire road. The layout is a lollipop shape: a stick from Start/Finish to Aid A and a loop from Aid A through Aid B back to Aid A. Fifty mile runners complete three counterclockwise loops with an extra loop, 50K runners complete two loops plus a short bonus loop, and the 10K is one loop.
Aid stations do not provide cups; participants must be able to carry 20 ounces of water on their person at all times. Spring weather in Indiana can vary; past editions have seen winter storm conditions and warm dry days, so participants are advised to prepare for variable weather.
Packet pick-up is held the evening before at Civilian Brewing Corps and same-day pick-up is available at the Start/Finish. Fourteen mile and 10K participants use a shuttle from the Owen County Family YMCA to Horse Campground. Entrants registered by March 1 receive event swag. Age group awards and finisher medals are given to finishers.
Camping at Horse Campground is available on a first-come basis with about eight sites and requires self-registration with cash or check. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
