Ocotillo Trail Endurance Challenge
The Ocotillo Trail Endurance Challenge takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in Carlsbad, New Mexico at Southeastern New Mexico College on the Ocotillo Hills Nature Trail. The event offers timed challenges in solo and relay formats: 1-hour, 4-hour, and 8-hour solo events plus 4-hour and 8-hour relays. The event is open to runners, hikers, ruckers, and walkers. Registration prices listed are $25 for the 1-hour, $45 for the 4-hour, $65 for the 8-hour, $55 for the 4-hour relay, and $75 for the 8-hour relay. Awards will be given to the top male and female solo finishers by total distance; relay winners are determined by total distance.
Course, logistics and rules
The course is fully contained on the Ocotillo Trail and is an approximately 2 mile (3.21 km) out-and-back loop with about 229 ft (69.79 m) of elevation gain. One aid station will be available at the half-way point (top of the hill at the 1 mile mark). Packet pick-up and late registration are available on race morning. Parking is at SENMC with covered parking and overflow in other campus lots within reasonable walking distance; the event entry is at the upper parking lot. Race bibs must be worn on the front and remain visible; bib transfers are allowed by request. Medical staff and radio communications will be positioned on course; officials may withdraw participants who appear distressed.
