Northern Trails Trail Race

Northern Trails Trail Race takes place on Saturday March 7, 2026, at Northern Guilford High School, 7101 Spencer Dixon Rd., Greensboro, North Carolina 27455. The event offers multiple distance choices and both in-person and virtual participation.

Distances available:

  • 5 Mile option for running, rucking, or hiking
  • 10 Mile option for running, rucking, or hiking
  • 17 Mile option for running, rucking, or hiking

The course follows trails in Greensboro’s northern trail system, including routes along Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend. The event is scheduled in early spring; past editions have recorded a range of weather conditions, including snow flurries, rain, and sunshine.

Registration includes a custom race shirt, a spring-themed finisher medal, chip timing with live results, post-race food and a beer, and race photos. The event is part of the North Carolina Trail Mega Medal Series, where finisher medals from multiple local races connect to form a larger Mega Medal.

The organizer provides economy registration options and virtual entries. The published refund policy states no refunds within 30 days of the event; earlier requests may be eligible for a 50 percent refund of the entry fee excluding processing fees. A trail 5k at Pluck Farm on March 7, 2026 supporting Learning Outside, with a 250 m kids race and a virtual 5k option. Steel String Brewery will open early to serve brews after the event.

Trail events at Haw River State Park in Greensboro include a 5k Run/Walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run, timed results, awards, t-shirts, and a shoe donation drive for Sneakers4Good.

A 3.3-mile trail run on a wooded single-track loop through the Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area. The course winds through rolling hills, rocky sections, and creeks. This second annual event supports Snow Camp Fire & Rescue.
