Night Owl Trail Run
Night Owl Trail Run is a night trail event held at Estero Llano Grande State Park in Weslaco, Texas. The event offers looped courses along park trails with scenic views that include Alligator Lake and Ibis Pond. Packet pickup is available through TopGym and at the race site; timing chips may be picked up only at the race site.
Distances offered include:
- 5k (one loop)
- 10k (two loops)
- 10 Mile (three loops)
- Youth trail run and a kids mile
Each participant receives both a gun time and a chip time; awards are based on gun time. Medals are provided to finishers, and organizers intend to offer medals to participants who made an attempt but did not finish. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers for each distance.
The course support includes two aid stations: a start/finish aid station visited after each loop and an Alligator aid station encountered roughly halfway through a loop. Runners will not go more than 1.5 miles without access to hydration or nutrition. Start/finish fuel items include cookies, PBJ sandwiches, oranges, bananas, watermelon, pickles and pickle juice, fruit snacks, Pringles, Coke, Mountain Dew, ginger ale, Tailwind, and SaltStick. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own cup, bottle, or hydration system.
