Night Owl Trail Run

Night Owl Trail Run takes place at Estero Llano Grande State Park and offers multiple looped trail distances. The event features night running on trails that pass Alligator Lake, Ibis Pond, and other park scenery.

Distances offered include:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • 10 Mile
  • Youth Trail Run / Kids Mile

Course formats: the 5k is a single loop, the 10k is two loops, and the 10 mile course is three loops. There are two aid stations: a start/finish station located at the loop access and an Alligator Aid Station midloop. Aid is spaced so runners will not go more than about 1.5 miles without an opportunity for hydration or nutrition. The start/finish station provides a variety of fuel items and beverages; the Alligator station supplies water, ice, and electrolytes. The event is cupless, so participants must bring their own cup, bottle, or hydration system.

All finishers receive a medal; those who attempt but do not finish may also receive a medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers for each distance. Participants receive both gun time and chip time, and awards are based on gun time. Packet pickup is handled at TopGym during the week of the event, while timing chips are available only at the race site. Pacers are not allowed.
