The Never Summer 100k & 60k are mountain trail ultras staged from Gould, Colorado inside State Forest State Park near Cameron Pass. Distances offered:
- 100 km (65.7 miles) with about 14,500 ft ascent and 14,500 ft descent
- 60 km (39.2 miles) with about 8,100 ft ascent and 8,100 ft descent
- Dirty Double option (both distances)
The course runs mostly between 8,450 ft and 11,852 ft, with an average elevation of 10,220 ft. Terrain includes trail, dirt road, rough trail, high alpine and rock. Wildlife that may be encountered includes moose, elk, deer, black bears and bighorn sheep. Total field is capped at 625 entries (325 for 100k, 300 for 60k). Registration for 2026 opens December 15, 2025.
Course, aid and logistics
The route visits high alpine ridges, two alpine peaks and several alpine lakes. The longest aid-free stretch from the start is 11.4 miles to Michigan Ditch; a notable high-altitude section between Ruby Jewel and Clear Lake is about 10.0 miles. Aid stations are stocked with fluids, snacks, simple hot food at later stations, and GF/vegan options on request. The course is marked with pink flagging, ground flour and directional arrows; GPX files and printable maps are provided and cell service is limited. Drop bags, designated crew access points, and pacing rules differ by distance; crewing and pacers are permitted only at specific aid stations. Intermediate cut-offs are enforced at several aid locations. Required gear includes a jacket, warm hat, gloves, whistle and at least 32 oz water capacity; a light is required for the 100k.
