Nav4 Ullswater Way & Challenge
Pooley Bridge, United Kingdom • 1 Nov 2025
Event overview
The Ullswater Way & Challenge is scheduled for Saturday 1 November 2025 and is based at Parkin Memorial Hall, Pooley Bridge (CA10 2NH). The event offers two course options: the low level Ullswater Way and a higher level Ullswater Challenge. Entry fees are listed as £35 for the 20 mile route and £40 for the 24 mile route. The event has a participant limit of 120 and a minimum age of 16. Registration takes place at the event centre on the Friday evening and Saturday morning before the event; exact registration details are communicated by email. The event is not organised as a race; runners are welcome but must give way to walkers and other users.
Route and logistics
Both routes head clockwise around Ullswater, passing The Cockpit, Howtown and Hallin Fell early in the course. After Glenridding participants either stay on the lakeshore low route toward Aira Force and Gowbarrow Fell or take the high level Glencoyne traverse to Dockray and Gowbarrow Summit before rejoining the lower route. The high level section may be closed in bad weather, in which case all participants follow the 20 mile low route. The route is waymarked with LDNP and Ullswater Way signs and there will be checkpoints offering food, drink and support. Individual support teams or crew are not allowed. Recommended kit includes a waterproof jacket, a drinks bottle or mug, spare layers and suitable footwear; the Challenge requires good basic fell walking or running skills. Free tea, coffee, cake and soup are provided at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
