Course and event rules require participants to remain on the designated trail; leaving the trail, running on roads, or cutting the course can result in disqualification. Pacers and outside assistance are prohibited for all distances. Participants must carry their own hydration systems; aid stations may not provide cups. Event staff enforce a leave no trace policy and may disqualify participants for tampering with markings or littering.
Crew access is limited to designated rest stops and roadside stopping along the Natchez Trace Parkway is not permitted. Rucking divisions are offered in two formats for 2026: a traditional ruck carried on the back with specified weight requirements by bodyweight, and a weighted vest division. A mandatory weigh-in is required before the race; approved weight types and random on-course checks apply. Cutoffs occur roughly midway on the 50 mile and again near the final outbound section.
