Naked Bavarian
The Naked Bavarian is a trail run event at Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport, PA. It describes itself as a "no/low swag" event, focusing on affordable entry fees by omitting expensive items like race shirts and finisher medals. The stated goal is to focus on a good course, aid stations, and medical support.
The event offers two distances: a 20-mile and a 40-mile run. The entry fee is $39 for the 20-mile and $49 for the 40-mile. Registration is available on race day if spots are open, for a higher fee.
Course Information
The course runs along the trails on the north side of Blue Marsh Lake. The basic layout is a "lollipoop": 6.5 miles out, a 7-mile loop, and 6.5 miles back. The 40-mile runners complete this twice. The terrain is a mix of single-track trail (80%) and gravel roads (20%). The trails are described as runnable but may contain occasional rocks or roots. Conditions in March may include snow, ice, or mud, which can increase difficulty. The total elevation gain is approximately 2000 feet for the 20-mile and 4000 feet for the 40-mile distance.
Aid and Support
Aid stations are provided at multiple points along the course. They offer water, Gatorade, and typical snacks and carbs. Runners are advised to carry their own hydration between stations and their preferred energy gels.
