Music City Trail Ultra - Pegram, Tennessee

Music City Trail Ultra is a trail event held the first weekend of March at 2150 Sams Creek Road in Pegram, Tennessee. The course begins on a family farm that connects to the Cheatham Wildlife Game Reserve, a 20,000-acre area of steep trails and ridge-line views. The terrain includes rugged jeep and gravel roads plus technical singletrack sections.

The event offers these distances:

  • 50k - roughly half trail and half jeep or gravel roads
  • 25k - about 65% trail with the remainder on jeep and gravel roads
  • 12k - about 75% trail with the remainder on jeep and gravel roads

Aid stations are placed roughly every 5 to 6 miles and provide water, Gatorade, and snacks. Cut-off times at aid stations require runners to reach the 10-mile station within 3 hours 20 minutes and the 20-mile station within 6 hours 30 minutes. All participants must finish within 9 hours; 50k entrants are asked to be capable of that finishing time.

A rucking division is offered for each distance. Weight requirements are 20 lb dry for participants over 150 lb and 10 lb dry for those under 150 lb. Weigh-in is required 30 minutes before the start and weights must be stamped plates or clearly marked items; removal of weight during the event is not allowed.

Amenities and services include finisher awards, snacks and pizza near the start and at aid stations, water and electrolytes, a pint of Jackalope Brew included with adult tickets, porta-johns, running water, camper and camping access, and no on-site electricity.

Awards include overall top three men and women in each distance and age-group first places in decades from 20-29 through 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
