About the race
Mt. Tam Trail Run is a trail running event organized by Inside Trail Racing on November 7, 2026 in Stinson Beach, California. The race starts at Stinson Beach, climbs to viewpoints on Mt. Tamalpais, and returns via trails in the Headlands to the beach, followed by post race food.
Distances include:
- 50K
- 30K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event has a total capacity of 500 runners across all distances. The 50K carries a time limit of 8.5 hours. The 50K prize purse awards cash to the top three overall male and female finishers: $300, $200, and $100. All finishers receive a custom medal; 50K finishers also receive a pint glass. Top three overall finishers of each distance receive custom trophies, and age group awards are given three deep for male, female, and non binary categories. The Dead Last Finisher in each event receives a custom award.
Aid stations offer a variety of foods and beverages such as energy gels, chews, stroopwafels, trail mix, chips, boiled potatoes with salt, soda, water, Skratch Hydration, pickle juice, PB&J sandwiches, fruit, and salt tablets. Aid stations include basic first aid items but no anti inflammatory medication. Skratch is mixed to about 80 to 100 calories per 20 fluid ounces. Runners are strongly encouraged to carry at least one 20 ounce bottle.
Parking is available free within the Stinson Beach Day Use Area. Entry fees are non refundable; a 50 percent credit toward a future Inside Trail Racing event may be issued for cancellations received at least three weeks before the race, subject to expiration and other conditions described in the event policy.
