Mt Hood Trail Runs

The Mt Hood Trail Runs are a set of three trail races held July 11 to 12, 2026, with start and finish at the Historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station near Timothy Lake, roughly 20 miles south of Mt. Hood. Courses include long sections on the Pacific Crest Trail and trails around Clackamas and Timothy Lakes.

Distances

  • 50 Mile: Out-and-back, almost entirely on the Pacific Crest Trail, heavily shaded.
  • 50K: Mostly on the Pacific Crest Trail with sections that circle Timothy Lake.
  • 25K: Uses the Headwaters and Old 1916 Trail and goes around Timothy Lake.

The trails are generally soft single-track and double-track with some technical sections of rocks and roots. The event lists capacities for each distance: 50-mile 150, 50K 150, 25K 250. Races open to general registration and will activate wait lists when a distance sells out. Optional shirt and merchandise are available for pre-order during registration through June 1.

Aid stations, volunteer support, and on-course services are provided. Every finisher receives a Mt Hood Trail Runs pint glass. Awards are given for top three men, women, and non-binary finishers, plus age group awards three deep. Post-race food and beverages are provided to racers and volunteers; spectators may purchase food for a small donation. The event acknowledges the traditional homelands of the Molalla Tribe, Tenino Tribe, and the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs.

The organizer’s cancellation policy offers a 50 percent credit for cancellations made more than 30 days before the race; cancellations 30 days or less before the race receive no credit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
