Mt Hood Trail Runs

The Mt Hood Trail Runs include three trail distances:

  • 50 mile
  • 50K
  • 25K

The 50 mile course and much of the 50K follow the heavily shaded Pacific Crest Trail and provide views of Mt Hood. The 25K course circles Clackamas and Timothy Lakes on a mix of single-track and double-track trails. The event occurs on the traditional homelands of the Molalla Tribe, Tenino Tribe, and the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs.

The start and finish are at the Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station near Timothy Lake, approximately 20 miles south of Mt Hood (coordinates 45.0986, -121.7513). Parking is allowed off road on portions of Forest Service Road 42 with posted signs and volunteer direction; parking is restricted at the Pacific Crest Trailhead adjacent to Joe Graham Campground and along FS42 from the event entrance to Joe Graham Campground. Timothy Lake offers more than 150 campsites; camping outside established sites is discouraged and no camping is allowed at the Clackamas Lake Guard Station Compound. The nearest motels are in Government Camp, about 21 miles from the start.

The event features organised volunteer support, post race food and beverage service for racers and volunteers, finisher pint glasses for every finisher, awards for top finishers including men, women, and non-binary categories, three deep age group awards, and a sponsor raffle. Runners may encounter horses on this multi use trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
