Mt. Hood Trail Runs

Clackamas Lake, United States • 11-12 Jul 2026

Event overview

The Mt. Hood Trail Runs are held July 11-12, 2026, at the Historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station near Timothy Lake, south of Mt. Hood. The event offers three distances:

  • 50 mile
  • 50K
  • 25K

The race began in 1999. Capacity is limited: 50-mile = 150, 50K = 150, 25K = 250. Registration opens January 3, 2026, events are not lotteries, and waitlists open when a distance sells out. Optional race merchandise can be pre-ordered during registration until June 1.

Course and logistics

The 50-mile course is an out-and-back route that is almost entirely on the heavily shaded Pacific Crest Trail. Much of the 50K is on the Pacific Crest Trail and includes running around Timothy Lake. The 25K uses Headwaters and Old 1916 Trail before circling Timothy Lake. Trails are generally soft with some technical sections containing rocks and roots. The 2026 50-mile route is run with the southern section first.

The event takes place on National Forest multi-use trails; horses may be encountered. The Start/Finish is at Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station. Parking is allowed off road on parts of Forest Service Road 42 with posted signs; some sections near trailheads prohibit parking. Timothy Lake has more than 150 campsites; no camping is allowed at the Clackamas Lake Guard Station compound. Nearest motels are in Government Camp, about 21 miles away.

Registration, fees and policies

Tiered registration fees apply by date for each distance. There are no transfers to other runners. If a registrant cancels more than 30 days before the race, they receive a 50% credit toward a future Go Beyond Racing event usable within 365 days; cancellations 30 days or less before the race receive no credit.
