Mozo Double Up
Mozo Double Up is a biannual mountain trail race held on and around Mount Mansfield. The next running is scheduled for August 16, 2026 (tentative). The event uses fragile alpine tundra and technical singletrack on the Long Trail and numerous connector trails.
The course covers roughly ~11 miles with about ~5,000' of vertical gain. The route begins at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, ascends via Haselton to South Link and the Forehead Bypass, follows the Long Trail to the Forehead of Mount Mansfield, descends Maple Ridge to a CCC road, crosses Sunset Ridge for a second ascent, and returns via Subway, Canyon North Extension, Halfway House Trail, Rimrock and Perry Merrill to the base. Sections include steep climbs, steep and rocky descents, exposed ridge, water bars, soggy sections and high alpine vegetation. Runners must remain on trail to protect the tundra.
The race is capped at 70 participants. Entrants must provide a recent qualifying time from a half-marathon, marathon or ultra; screening is used for wave placement and capacity control. Hiking poles are permitted but must be carried at all times. Music of any kind is not permitted.
Logistics notes: registration opens June 1, race fee for 2026 is $105, registration closes August 14, and a rain date is set for August 23. Partial refunds (50%) are available only until June 30; no refunds or transfers are allowed after that date. Awards are given to top three male and female finishers, and there are additional awards and a raffle. Minimum age to compete is 18. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
