Mozo Double Up

Mozo Double Up is a mountain trail race held on fragile alpine terrain and rugged singletrack. The course is approximately 11 miles with about 5,000 feet of vertical gain and includes long climbs, steep technical descents, exposed sections and areas designated as no-fall zones. Participants traverse high alpine tundra and are required to stay on trail to protect the ecosystem.

The route begins at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort on the Haselton Trail and links to South Link, Forehead Bypass and the Long Trail to reach the Forehead of Mount Mansfield. The course descends Maple Ridge into Underhill, follows a short section of forest road toward Sunset Ridge, then climbs Sunset Ridge for the second ascent. Runners return via spur trails, Subway and Canyon North Extension, and finish by descending Rimrock and a gravel work road that follows the Switchback ski trail. Early sections of Rimrock have high grass, water bars and rocks and are often soggy.

The event is held on a biannual schedule with the next running in 2026. Entry is limited to 70 racers. Hiking poles are permitted but must be carried at all times; music of any kind is not permitted. The course runs through remote areas not accessible by motorized vehicle; runners should carry a cell phone and use emergency services if needed. The race is marked, and qualifying performance times from the previous two years are required for entry.

Registration fee for 2026 is $105. A rain date is set for August 23. Refunds are 50 percent until June 30 and none after that. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
