Mozo Double Up
Mozo Double Up is a mountain trail race scheduled for August 16, 2026. The event is now held on a biannual basis. The organizers limit entry to protect fragile high alpine areas and to manage complex logistics.
The course starts at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort and uses a network of trails including Haselton, South Link, the Forehead Bypass, the Long Trail, Maple Ridge, Sunset Ridge, Rimrock, and Perry Merrill. Racers traverse alpine tundra and exposed, technical terrain with steep climbs and descents. Participants are required to remain on trail to protect sensitive vegetation.
The route covers approximately ~11 miles with about ~5,000' vertical gain. Terrain is remote, rocky, steep, and often technical; sections include slippery ground, roots, and rock features. Hiking poles are permitted but must be carried at all times. Music of any kind is not permitted. Runners should carry a cell phone and expect limited access by motorized rescue.
Field size is capped at 70 racers. Entrants must provide a recent qualifying time from a half-marathon, marathon, or ultra, or upload a verified activity screenshot; times must be no more than two years old. Registration opens June 15, race fee for 2026 is $105, registration closes August 14. Refunds are 50% available until June 30, and no refunds are issued after that date. A rain date is set for August 23.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers, and additional awards include oldest and youngest runner categories. Runners must be at least 18 years old to compete. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
