Mountwood Challenge Trail Race

The Mountwood Challenge Trail Race is an off-road running event held in Mountwood Park, located approximately 15 miles east of Parkersburg, West Virginia, on U.S. Route 50. The event features multiple distances conducted on the park's trail system:

  • 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
  • 3.1 Miles (5K Run)
  • 3.1 Miles (5K Walk)

The main parking area is situated near the boat ramp off Volcano Road. For the half marathon, participants must be at least 15 years old to enter. This specific distance has a four-hour time limit. Any participant who does not reach the halfway point within two hours will be directed to the finish line by the event staff.

Recognition is provided to the top three overall male and female finishers in all race categories. Additionally, age group awards are presented to the top finishers in various brackets starting from under 15 for the 5K events, and ranging from 15-19 up to 60 and over for all distances.
