Course and Details
The marathon and half marathon routes pass through Reservoir Park, Whitehall Trail, and Nick’s Creek Trail. Marathon runners complete this loop twice. Four aid stations along the loop provide water, Gatorade, and snacks, offering eight stops for marathon participants. The marathon has a 7-hour time limit, equating to a 16:01 per mile pace. The 5K route is around Reservoir Park.
The event is described as a self-paced fun run/walk open to runners, walkers, and backpackers. Registration opens on December 1, 2025, and remains open through race day. Participants receive an official race t-shirt and finishers medal, though t-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after February 25, 2026.
Venue and Logistics
Parking is available at the Faulkner parking lot at Sandhills Community College on Earhart Drive. The start line is at a trailhead near the Palmer Trades Center. Race packet pickup is available the morning of the event or the evening prior at Pace Yourself Run Co in Downtown Southern Pines.
Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in each event category. Families and spectators can visit nearby gardens, parks with hiking trails, and the towns of Southern Pines, Aberdeen, and Pinehurst. Food trucks and activities are planned on-site.
