MOCO Trails Wild West Backyard Ultra : Loudy Simpson Park, Craig CO

The MOCO Trails Wild West Backyard Ultra is an endurance event held on August 15, 2026, at Loudy Simpson Park in Craig, Colorado, along the Yampa River. The main event follows the Backyard Ultra format: runners complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour, starting together each loop, and continue until only one runner remains. Runners must be in the starting corral when the start signal sounds and must complete each loop within the hour to continue.

A Citizens Race offers a single-loop option of 4.167 miles on the same course through park trails, riverside sections, tree-lined paths, small bridges, and open park areas. The course surface is primarily dirt trail with a small amount of pavement.

The start and finish area is located near the park ice arena and serves as the main aid station and runner camp. Participants have access to food, hydration, a rest area between loops, crew access in designated areas, and basic first aid. Runners are responsible for their own lighting after dark; headlamps or handheld lights are required for night running. Medical support will be available, but participants run at their own risk and race staff may remove runners for safety reasons.
