Little Rooster Run : Mini Barnyard Ultra weekend
The event takes place at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky from October 16 to October 20, 2026. It includes a kids fun run, a 5K trail race, and the Mini Barnyard Ultra, all held on fairgrounds property.
Distances and formats include:
- 800 m - Kids Fun Run for ages 10 and under on a mostly grass cross country course
- 5K - Trail using fairgrounds trails; walkers welcome; two hour cut off
- Mini Barnyard Ultra - Last runner standing on 2.083 mile lap repeated every half-hour
The kids event uses the paved walking path at the front of the facility; registered children receive a shirt and a participation award at the finish. Family and friends may accompany runners free of charge, but only registered runners receive event shirts and finisher awards. The 5K Trail finishers receive a special memento and an awards ceremony will recognize overall and age group winners for male and female participants at the Pavilion near the main entrance.
The Mini Barnyard Ultra follows a last runner standing format. Runners complete repeated laps; when only one runner remains that person must complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to be declared the winner. Headlamps are required for the ultra, appropriate weather gear is recommended, and trekking poles are optional. Only registered participants are permitted on the course during each race. The fairgrounds will reopen to the public on Tuesday, October 20; if runners remain on course the event may continue with limited staff.
