The Little Rooster Run is a multi-day event featuring a kids' fun run, a 5K trail race, and a Mini Barnyard Ultra trail race. It is organized by Ridge Runners Racing LLC, a non-profit organization. Distances
- Little Rooster Kids Fun Run: A 0.5-mile trail loop for children 10 years and under.
- Little Rooster Run 5K Trail: A 5K trail race. Walkers are welcome.
- Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail: A "last runner standing" event on a 2.083-mile loop course. Runners must complete each loop within a 30-minute window to continue.
Location & Course
The event takes place at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky. The 5K and Mini Barnyard Ultra courses share a 2.083-mile loop that winds through open parkland and canopy-covered trails. The course has a total ascent of 335 feet and a total descent of 315 feet. The kids' fun run uses a separate mowed cross-country path.
Event Details
The Mini Barnyard Ultra is a continuous event where runners start a new loop every half hour. Runners are eliminated if they do not finish a loop within the 30-minute limit or cannot start the next loop on time. The last remaining runner must complete a final "victory lap" to win. Headlamps are required for the ultra event. On-site camping is available.
Registered participants in the Mini Barnyard Ultra can access a designated crew tent area and, with a "Pavilion Pass," a full-service aid station offering food and drinks. Spectators are asked to stay off the course.
Awards & Amenities
All kids' fun run participants receive a special memento. The 5K awards overall and age group winners, and all finishers receive a memento. The Mini Barnyard Ultra winner receives a special award, while all other participants receive a token of appreciation and are listed on the event's "Wall of Shame."
