Meall a'Bhuachaille Hill Race 2026
Meall a'Bhuachaille is a hill race held at Badaguish Outdoor Centre near Aviemore on Saturday 26 September 2026. The route is 13 km with 720 m of ascent and is licenced by Scottish Athletics with race insurance cover provided by Scottish Hill Runners.
The course starts at Badaguish (NH 967114), follows a forest track onto the hill path to the summit of Meall a Bhuachaille (810 m), returns to the bealach, contours to Creagan Gorm (732 m), then continues to the summit of Craiggowrie (687 m) before a flagged descent through heather and forest back to the finish. The route is primarily unmarked except at some path junctions, the final forest section and the first part of the last descent. Hill marshals will staff designated checkpoints. Navigation skills may be required in poor visibility and the organiser may use a lower level alternative route in adverse weather.
All runners must be 18 or over to enter. Entry fee is £10 and entries open 1 August 2026 and close 23 September 2026. Limited entry may be available on the day; a mobile device will be needed to access the relevant QR code. A cut off will be applied at the second checkpoint.
Mandatory kit includes full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, whistle, compass and map. Maps are available for purchase at registration for 50p. Car parking is available at Badaguish; a £5 parking charge per car will be collected on arrival. Toilet facilities are available; showers are not permitted and the cafe will be closed. Limited refreshments will be provided at the finish.
