Meall a'Bhuachaille Hill Race takes place on 25 October 2025 at Badaguish Outdoor Centre, near Aviemore. The route is 13 km with 720 m of climb. The event is organised by Highland Hill Runners, licensed by Scottish Athletics and has race insurance cover provided by Scottish Hill Runners. Entry is open to those aged 18 or older. The entry fee is £10. Limited on-the-day entry will be available and online entry is offered in advance. At the time of this listing there are 80 participants entered.

Course, safety and facilities

The route starts at Badaguish and follows a forest track and hill path to the summit of Meall a Bhuachaille (810 m) - CP1, then descends to the bealach - CP2, contours to Creagan Gorm (732 m) - CP4 and continues to Craiggowrie (687 m) - CP5 before a flagged descent back through boggy heather into the forest and to the finish. The course is primarily unmarked except at some path junctions, the first part of the final descent and the forest section. Hill marshals will staff designated checkpoints and navigation skills may be required in poor visibility. A lower-level alternative route may be used in bad weather.

Competitors must carry full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, whistle, compass and map; kit checks will be made. Maps are available for purchase at registration for £1. Car parking is available at Badaguish with a £5 parking charge per car; the cafe will be closed, toilets will be available and showers are not permitted.
