Mayhem Night Trail

Mayhem Night Trail is a night trail running event at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fort McDowell, AZ. The event offers multiple course distances:

  • 25K
  • 10 Mile
  • 5 Mile

The start and finish are based out of the Competitive Track Area just beyond the Ranger Station at the park entrance. Distances may vary slightly each year due to permitting.

Courses are marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and reflective medallions. Trail junctions and turns use laminated signs, and blue and white checkerboard flagging marks non-race or wrong-way trails. Runners are responsible for understanding the course layout and may use course maps or GPX files for navigation.

Aid stations include one full remote aid station (Gate Aid) and a water-only station on the looped course. Aid station supplies listed include water, ice, electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, fruit, pb&j, bean rollups, and hot food options. There is a designated area for personal drop bags at the start/finish.

Crews are allowed at the start/finish only. Pacers are not allowed for any distance. MedStar Solutions medical staff will be based at the start/finish headquarters and may remove participants if deemed necessary.

Expect cooler evening conditions with temperatures typically in the 60s and possibly dropping into the 40s. The park charges a vehicle entry fee and pets must be leashed; pets are not allowed on course during the night runs. The event is CUPLESS and Aravaipa branded reusable cups will be available for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
