About the race

Mayhem Night Trail is a night trail race held on December 5, 2026 at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fort McDowell, Arizona. The event offers multiple looped trail distances run under headlamp and moonlight and is part of the Insomniac Night series and the Desert Runner Trail Series. It takes place the same evening as the McDowell Mountain Frenzy, allowing runners to attempt a Double Down challenge by finishing distances at both events.

Distances:

  • 25K (about 15.2 miles)
  • 10 Mile
  • 5.2 Miles

Course and support details are provided on marked trail loops. There is one full remote aid station (Gate Aid) plus a water-only aid station that runners pass each loop; aid station supplies include water, ice, electrolyte drink options, salty and sweet snacks, fruit, pb&j, bean rollups, and hot food items such as quesadillas and grilled cheese. Crews are permitted only at the start/finish area. Pacers are not allowed for any distance. A designated area for personal drop bags is available at the start/finish.

Additional event information notes a time limit with an overall cutoff at 11:00pm, on-site medical staff for first aid, a park entry fee per vehicle, no pets allowed on-course, and campsite options at the regional park including a group campground with a fee.
