Mayhem Night Trail - McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Mayhem Night Trail is an evening trail running event held at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fort McDowell, Arizona. The event offers three distances:
- 25K
- 10 Mile
- 5 Mile
Courses run on desert singletrack and shared park trails at night; participants navigate with headlamps. Distances may vary slightly each year due to permitting. The start and finish use the Competitive Track Area near the park ranger station. The course is marked with orange ribbons with black polka dots, reflective medallions, laminated signs at junctions, and blue-and-white checkerboard flagging to indicate wrong-way trails.
Aid support includes one full remote aid station called Gate Aid plus a water-only station passed on each loop; stations are stocked with water, ice, electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, fruit, pb&j, bean rollups, and some hot food options. Chip timing, finish line photos, finisher awards, and live tracking are provided. Crews are permitted at the start/finish only and pacers are not allowed. A designated drop bag area is available at the start/finish.
Additional event notes: park entry currently charges a $10 vehicle fee, pets must be leashed and are not allowed on course, and campground options exist nearby including a group campground about 2.5 miles from the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
