About the race
McDowell Mountain Frenzy is a trail running event held at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona, on Saturday, December 5, 2026. The event offers multiple measured courses on marked single track and competitive track trails within the park and portions of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

- 50 mile
- 50K
- 25K
- 10 mile
- 5 mile
Course and logistics details include chip timing, orange ribbon and reflective medallion course markings, laminated turn signs, and blue and white checkerboard flagging for wrong way trails. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 10.5 miles. Drop bag and crew rules vary by distance: 50 mile runners may use drop bags at Dixie Mine and Headquarters; 50K runners may use a drop bag at Dixie Mine (mile 22). Crews are allowed at start/finish; due to permit restrictions there is limited crew access elsewhere. Pacers are allowed only for 50 mile runners on the final loop within the Competitive Track.
Additional on-site services include MedStar Solutions medical staff at start/finish, post-race food, a charity beer garden, and awards for top three male and female finishers at each distance. The park charges a $10 entry fee per vehicle (as of 1/1/26). Distances may vary slightly each year due to permitting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
