Mammoth Trail Fest - Runner Information

Mammoth Trail Fest is a multi-distance trail race weekend centered at the Village at Mammoth Plaza in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Courses run on USFS land and use marked singletrack, service roads, and ski-area trails that reach alpine terrain and a summit at 11,053 ft. Races include a steep technical ascent to the summit and longer out-and-back and loop options with varied surfaces and exposed sections.

Recommended essentials include a cell phone, at least 1 L of fluid capacity, extra layers, and an emergency blanket. Organizers may require a Cold Weather Kit if conditions demand, typically including a waterproof jacket, phone, and emergency blanket. The event is cup-less; runners must carry their own bottle or cup. Pacers are not allowed; crews are permitted except at specified aid stations. Drop-bag services are provided for the Dragon’s Back Ascent and the 26K/50K with return locations and unclaimed-bag procedures described.

Aid station support varies by race: some courses have no aid while others have multiple stations stocked with real food, GU products, and water; the summit aid will offer pancakes and planned dietary options. Courses are marked by flagging, ribbons, chalk, and signs with color coding per race and WRONG WAY signs at critical junctions. Professional chip timing is used for age-group awards; gun time is used for prize-money awards. Random drug testing applies to all runners.
