Course, navigation and rules

The 47 mile race is an out-and-back route following the Worcestershire Way, turning at Sally’s Place, British Camp, and returning to Abberley Village Hall. The 47 mile route shows ascent 2,941 m and descent 2,941 m (just under 10,000 ft). The same GPX file is used for all distances; organisers provide downloadable maps, written route directions and a GPX file. The course is self navigation with Worcestershire Way signage and optional paced groups called "Time Lords" who run to 11, 12 or 13 hour targets to offer navigation help.

Checkpoint provision varies by distance (five CPs for the longest race, fewer for shorter distances), with food, drinks and toilet arrangements at CPs. Distances between key checkpoints are given in miles and the full out-and-back totals just over 47 miles. Mandatory kit is required and may be checked; mandatory items include a map, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit and emergency food. All entrants must be at least 20 years old. Finishers receive a bespoke MHU medal and a technical MHU T-shirt or commemorative item. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
