Organisers provide downloadable maps, route directions and a GPX file for navigation. The race uses unmanned punch-points on parts of the route and live checkpoints to record times, supply food and drinks, and monitor competitors. The event operates with a maximum race allowance of 13 hours and has timed checkpoint cut-offs; anyone outside these times will not be allowed to continue.

A mandatory kit list is enforced and random checks will be made at registration. The race is cup-free so competitors must carry a reusable cup. Finishers receive a bespoke MHU medal and a commemorative item. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
