The Malvern Hills Ultra : event overview

The Malvern Hills Ultra takes place on 2 May 2026 with start and finish at Abberley Village Hall, WR6 6AZ. Entrants can choose from four race distances:

  • 47 miles
  • 38 miles
  • 31 miles
  • 23 miles

The full 47 mile route is an out-and-back that predominantly follows the Worcestershire Way, turning at Sally’s Place (British Camp) before returning to Abberley. The 47 mile course shows 2,941 m of ascent and 2,941 m of descent (just under 10,000 ft). A downloadable GPX file, maps and written directions are provided for navigation.

Race logistics and rules

The event uses numbered checkpoints along the route. Checkpoint locations include The Admiral Rodney (CP1), Suckley Post Office (CP2) and Sally’s Place (CP3). Checkpoint spacing is provided in the race information and each distance has a set number of checkpoints (47 mile uses five, 38 mile four, 31 mile three, 23 mile two). The race is cup-free; competitors should bring a reusable cup.

Entrants must register online before the event and carry mandatory kit. Required items include a backpack, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or the provided maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit and emergency food. Entries are non-refundable; published entry fees apply per distance. Finishers receive a bespoke MHU medal and a commemorative item (technical T-shirt, mug or hat). Trail runs nearby

Enjoy a scenic annual multi terrain trail run around the historic Weston Park estate in Shropshire. Choose a 5k or 10k course with chip timing for all runners and enjoy mixed paths and a short grassy stretch.

Run through autumn woods at the ninth DirtRun Wyre Wizard in Wyre Forest on 23 November 2025, with a scenic trail half marathon or the lively Super Seven. Expect marshals, crisp finish medals and festival style vibes at the visitor centre.

Experience a night run through Wyre Forest on 26 November 2025 with a 10 km course run as two laps under torchlight. Canicross are welcome and every finisher gets a medal while prizes await the top three in each gender.
