Malvern Hills Ultra

The Malvern Hills Ultra is a multi distance trail event based at Abberley Village Hall, WR6 6AZ, taking place on 2 May 2026. The event uses the Worcestershire Way for much of the route and is run as an out and back for the longest distance, turning at Sally’s Place, British Camp, and returning to Abberley Village Hall.

Entrants can select one of the following distances:

  • 47 miles
  • 38 miles
  • 31 miles
  • 23 miles

The 47 mile course is described with an ascent of 2,941 m and an equivalent descent. The same GPX file is used for all distances; the file shows the out route and is reversed for the return leg. Navigation is self led but the Worcestershire Way has waymarkers and organisers provide downloadable maps, written directions and a GPX file. Timelords run at set target paces to offer navigation assistance and pacing.

Checkpoints are placed on the course to monitor competitor welfare and to provide water and some food. The full route uses five checkpoints; shorter distances use fewer. The event is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or equivalent, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, an emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit.

Entries are non refundable. Entry fees include a contribution to the Malvern Hills Conservators with contributions to date recorded as £600. Individual entry fees are listed by distance by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
