The event starts and finishes at Abberley Village Hall, WR6 6AZ. Entrants can choose from the following distances:
- 47 miles
- 38 miles
- 31 miles
- 23 miles
The 47-mile course is an out-and-back route that follows the Worcestershire Way and turns at Sally’s Place / British Camp before returning to Abberley. The full course lists ascent and descent of 2,941 m (just under 10,000 ft) and a total distance of just over 47 miles. The route is self-navigation; organisers provide downloadable maps, written directions and a GPX file. Checkpoints are placed along the route and participants must pass their designated checkpoints and record their passage; some sections use unmanned punch points.
Entries, kit and rules
Entry fees are non-refundable. Typical entry prices listed are £95 for the 47-mile entry, £85 for 38, £80 for 31 and £70 for 23. Fees include a contribution to the Malvern Hills Trust; contributions to date are stated as £600. Competitors must be 20 years or older on race day. There is a maximum race allowance of 13 hours and checkpoint cut-offs apply. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, OS Map 150 (or organisers’ maps), compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first-aid kit.
