Magna Carta Summer

Magna Carta Summer is based in Runnymede close to the site where the treaty of Magna Carta was agreed and signed on 15th June 1215. Race headquarters are at Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club on the River Thames and the course follows the Thames Path.

The event uses a lapped layout on a scenic stretch of the river. The marathon begins with a 2 x 2.5 mile out and back loop to Staines Bridge, followed by four out and back sections of 5.3 miles with turnarounds at the Old Windsor Lock check point. The half marathon begins with a 2.5 mile out and back loop to Staines Bridge and continues with two out and back sections of 5.3 miles to Old Windsor Lock.

The route is described as completely runnable along the Thames Path and passes the Queen Elizabeth statue, the JFK Memorial, the Magna Carta landmark and Old Windsor. The course will be well marked and marshals will be positioned at the initial turnaround near Staines Bridge and at the half and marathon turnaround at Old Windsor Lock. All finishers receive a bespoke Magna Carta medal and prizes are awarded for the first three male and female finishers.
