Event overview

Magna Carta Winter is a road and trail event held in Runnymede, Surrey, with race headquarters at the Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club, Riverside, Egham, TW20 0AA. The races use out-and-back lapped sections along the Thames Path and the organiser describes the course as flat. Entrants for the 2026 event are accepted from ages 17 to 80.

Distances

  • 10 km - 10.09 km (6.27 miles): one 1.0-mile out/back plus one 5.27-mile out/back
  • Half marathon - 13.14 miles: two 1.3-mile laps plus two 5.27-mile out/back sections
  • Marathon - 26.35 miles: five 5.27-mile out/back sections to Old Windsor Lock

Course and race support

Turnaround points are marked and marshalled. There are well stocked checkpoints at the start/finish and at the Old Windsor Lock turnaround. Results are chip timed and medical first aid support is provided throughout the event. Event materials include printable course maps and GPX routes, and race photography is offered after the event. Finishers receive a bespoke Magna Carta medal and prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each distance.
