Beachruns at Mission Beach
Beachruns is a beach running event held at Mission Beach in Tropical North Queensland, Australia. The event base is The Vaka Hut at the Mission Beach Outrigger Canoe Club on the beach at Casuarina Park, South Mission Beach. Online registration is required and the 1 km children's dash allows on-the-day sign-up.
Distances offered include:
- 21 km half marathon covering greater Mission Beach
- 10 km individual run
- 5 km individual run
- 1 km children's dash for 5 to 12 year olds with parental supervision
- 12 km team relay of four 3 km legs; teams of 2 to 4 runners
Age categories and minimum ages are specified: Open, Masters, Youth and Children. Minimum ages include 15 years for the 21 km event, 13 years for the 10 km, 12 years for the 5 km and 10 years for the team relay with conditions for 10 to 17 year olds.
Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each distance and to winning male, female and mixed relay teams. Winning relay teams receive perpetual trophies. Age groups are recorded for times but do not receive age-group prizes. Food and refreshments will be available at the event.
Race numbers are allocated on race day and competitors must sign in. Health and safety measures include staying home if unwell, maintaining physical distancing where possible and using hand sanitiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
