Course and services

The races start high on the mountain and run primarily on single track trails with a mix of climbs, runnable sections, and moderate descents. The 18-mile course follows the first 18 miles of the 50-mile course. The route crosses or follows at least five creeks en route to Lula Lake Land Trust, passing through rhododendron, mixed hardwood, and hemlock forests and by the 120-foot Lula Falls. The course navigates two exposed bluff lines that offer extensive views; on clear days it is possible to see five states from one section.

The 10K begins with flat cross country trails on the college grounds, then shifts to narrow trails along two creeks with a couple of steep climbs; it can be hiked by those new to trail running. Staffed aid stations serve hot soup, and there are camp fires at night. Course maps are provided for the 50/18 route and the 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
