Larch Madness Trail Races take place October 18, 2025 at Loup Loup Ski Bowl near Twisp, Washington (coordinates 48.39415, -119.91112). The event offers multiple distance options and supports the Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation.

Cutoff time for each distance is 18 hours.

Course and logistics

Courses use marked loops called Blue (5K), Yellow (Bulldog), and Pink (Exterminator). Loop sequences vary by distance; the 50K repeats the Yellow and Pink loops multiple times and includes the Blue loop. About 35-45% of the longer courses are off-trail and include steep, rugged sections. A light snowfall is possible in October; shoes with good traction and trekking poles are recommended.

Aid stations on the 15K, 25K, and 50K provide water, soda, electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, pickles, cookies or candy, some gels, and first aid supplies. Drop bags and crew access are allowed at the start/finish/aid station. Dispersed camping is available at the start/finish Friday and Saturday nights for $25 per adult (covers both nights); the fee supports the non-profit that owns the ski bowl. A post-race food and drinks party will be provided free for participants and volunteers; friends and family may attend for an additional $20 per person.
