La Garita 200

The La Garita 200 is a 200 mile mountain race held in the La Garita range of southern Colorado, with the field based in South Fork, CO on the banks of the Rio Grande river. The course is a large loop that starts and finishes at the same location, with a short out-and-back section used to connect the loop.

The route reaches elevations just under 13,000 feet. Terrain includes arid pine forest, alpine tundra, and large mountain parks as the course ascends and descends across the range.

Entry plans for the event are limited; the organizers aim for an initial field of 25–30 runners. Registration is handled so that entrants are not charged until the target field size is reached; at that point an invite similar to a wait-list notification will be sent so an entrant can confirm and pay. Registration closes Sat, Aug 1 at 11:59 PM MT.
