Kusam Klimb

Kusam Klimb is an annual trail event held near the summer solstice on the unceded Traditional Territory of the Kwakwaka’wakw people in Sayward, British Columbia. The race follows a loop that climbs over the back of Mt. H'Kusam and descends the Stowe Creek watershed, with exclusive access to Bill's Trail.

The full route is a wild, rugged loop with significant elevation gain. The Mini Klimb provides a shorter option for younger participants or those seeking a smaller challenge.
Support and rules There are four fully stocked aid stations on the full route and two on the Mini. Aid stations do not provide disposable cups; participants must carry a reusable cup or bottle. Dossard pickup requires a government issued photo ID and participants receive a wristband for food service.
Eligibility and safety Entrants must be at least 14 years old. Entrants aged 14 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult for the entire event. Entrants under 18 require a parent or guardian signature. No children under 14 are permitted. No support crews or spectators are allowed on the mountain or at aid stations. Motorized access to the mountain is not permitted on race day. Hiking poles are allowed. The event enforces cutoff times at aid stations and the finish to ensure safety.
Location and facilities The race start and finish are at Salmon River Guesthouse in Sayward. Parking is available at the venue and along Sayward Road, with marshals directing vehicles and no parking areas enforced. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
